It's not just humans who want to move into the beautiful boutique enclave that is Wanaka Retirement Village.
A bold drake and his mate have been wandering the manicured grounds for several weeks looking for the ideal spot to raise a family.
Although the pair brings smiles to Village residents, they are not encouraged to stay, unlike human visitors. The new Village is expected to be base for holidaying children and grandchildren as they visit relatives who now call the Village home. Lake Wanaka, the township and sporting facilities are all just a short flat walk away.
Only a couple of two-bedroom villas and apartments remain for sale and they are expected to sell over summer. Sales agent Helen Henshall, pictured here with villa resident Doreen Watson, will be holding open homes over the holiday period. She can be contacted on 03 443 7524.
